We decided to have a much needed low-key weekend after months of plans and I have to say it’s been absolute bliss. It was a cold morning so we hopped in the car and drove to a beautiful forest for an autumnal walk and some blog pictures, seeing as it’s the first time I’ve managed to wear a cosy autumnal jumper without sweating my arse off! It was so good to have some chill time and be outdoors away from it all. I’m quite the country bumpkin, being outside is the one thing that I know will destress me and recharge the batteries. It’s easy to burn the candle at both ends and sometimes you have to force yourself to take some time out. Don’t get me wrong, I love being busy. In fact, I thrive on it. But sometimes you have to know when to slow down and take a minute.
We’ve been so busy with work, with friends and family, socialising and planning our wedding, that we realised it had been a good few months since we had a weekend without plans. And my God, it felt weird! I had been setting my alarm at the weekends to get things done, checking my emails late in to the evening, spending all night on my laptop trying to get things sorted. So it felt weird to chill in front of the TV, wake up when we wanted to, spend the morning in our dressing gowns with a cuppa watching Stranger Things 2 (how good is it, by the way?!) and getting completely lost in the forest (only to stumble across a hut selling hot drinks and snacks – I might get lost a lot but I can always find my way to food).
I also broke my spending ban to get this gloriously cosy jumper which basically has autumn written all over it, and these Adidas campus trainers (which are kids btw! So much love for fitting in kids shoes, saves an absolute fortune). All in all, I’m feeling recharged and ready to go. It’s amazing what a bit of fresh air and a change in perspective can do. I also seem to sleep so much better when I’ve been outside, anyone else?
Have a good week!
